Welcome to Plus Style For You, a fashion blog for real sized women. We here at Plus Style For You firmly believe in real fashion. I know that this may seem like a broad statement, but I assure you it is not. You see, there are many people in this world who feel as though fashion is only for models or those very few other women who have been able to achieve the fashion industry’s standard of beauty. Crazy huh? I have always been a fashion junkie and have never been a size 6…EVER. My whole life I have been forced to creatively piece together outfits inspired by looks I have seen in fashion mags and celebrity rags because the actual pieces don’t come in my size or price range, which was no small feat. I always get stopped by other plus sized women (and even real sized women) wondering where I purchase my look and I have always been happy to oblige. That is how I became a personal shopper.
In the past couple of years I have serviced hundreds of clients, ranging in size from 2 to 34—the majority being in the 10-20 range. I have also seen many retailers and designers open their arms to the plus community and sadly I have seen many who refuse to adapt to the statistical data showing that the majority of women all over the world are a size 10 and above (especially in the US) and many who will offer the larger sizes online, but will not allow us the dignity of coming into their brick and mortar locations to try them on. If you ever went from store to store searching for a dress “just like the one Sarah Jessica Parker wore to a movie premier” or “Rihanna wore to the club last night” in your size—to no avail, then this is the site for you. Fashion to me is finding pieces that speak to you and fit well. I believe that fashion rules are meant to be broken. You are your own canvas. Dare to paint outside the lines!
