I have a confession to make—I, Naja, am a fashion book addict. Yes, it’s true. I own a whole collection of them from those written by style experts such as Tim Gunn and Clinton Kelly to style manuals put together by editors of In Style and Vogue and even biographies about fashion icons like Coco Chanel and the Gucci family (Lawd do they have some DRAH-MUH in that family…it’s like reading a murder mystery). HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
There are other ways to show your patriotism on the 4th of July besides wearing the American flag as a dress. Here are some pieces to help you stay stylish this Independence Day! Read more…
It seems like the sequin trend is here to stay and I ain’t mad at all! My style is all about the shine—the flash, but the key to making sequins work day or night is moderation—unless of course you actually WANT to look like a disco ball, and in that case, shine on sistah girl. If your goal is to be on trend, I suggest using a sequin piece as the main attraction without any other distraction. For instance, when wearing a sequin blazer, pair it with your favorite skinny jeans and a plain white tank or tee or for an urban chic look. If you aren’t comfortable with that much shine you can use it as an accent by pairing your favorite LBD with a killer pair of sequin platform pumps or even just throw on some sequin chandelier earrings. The possibilities are endless, just remember, less is more.
Here are some ideas on how to add some shine to your closet…

Wedding season is in full swing! I happen to love going to weddings because it is interesting to see everyone else’s interpretation of what proper wedding attire is. Plus wedding fashions have evolved from the Golden Girls era beaded skirt suits to sexy halter and strapless styles and then some
I have two very different types of weddings to attend this year. In July I am supposed to attend a laid back wedding in the Caribbean and in early September I am attending a formal Catholic ceremony with an evening reception to follow at a country club in Connecticut. Here are a few different looks to get us all through the wedding season in style.
I had to catch my breath when I laid eyes on the following dress. I immediately knew that it would be perfect for the formal wedding and serve me well for many formal events to come.
